Cooking, anticipating, getting over illnesses...

Right now I'm cooking torts... yep, I made 'em by hand.... also about to make tamales... got the Masa mixed, just gotta make the filling and run to the store for husks...

Anticipating my kids coming over and spending Christmas Eve with me... I am excited... however, I have been reading the bible quite a bit as well as listening to a pretty good religious station on "Bot Radio Network" 94.3... Considering the season of Christmas, there is always a "controversy" for this "Holiday"... I have studied a bit and have come to the conclusion that, even though this may not be the season of our savior's birth, it is a good time to celebrate the miracle and mystery of Him.
Now, the whole "Santa Claus" thing... Haven't done much research on good ole' Saint Nicholas, but I will after posting this... but I was thinking, why should I try to keep alive a fantasy about a "magical" being that makes toys, flies around the world and delivers toys to "good" girls and boys?
My kids already have the "belief" in Santa, however, they relate more to Santa than they do to God and Jesus...
So, I will re-iterate that, depending on my findings about Santa Claus, St. Nick did exist at one time and he started "a", not "THE", tradition of gift giving. In which we participate in the tradition of giving gifts on Christmas DAY, not eve, and focus and remember the original reason for celebrating Christmas...
Is this ruining a child's imagination or hope or dream? I don't know... Believing in fairies and elves, in my humble opinion, is not a good thing, but pretending there are, is a whole other act.

On to the illness... I think I have Strep... and it sucks, but I know I will be okay and I have prayed that I will be healed soon... I could just ask and question why I have this, however, I remember all the times I asked God to allow me to take on the sicknesses that my children would get instead of them having to suffer. I believe this is what God has granted and I am okay with that.

I'm tired and finally finished with the Torts... guess I better run to the store for Husks... Merry Christmas!!!!
