Sunday Studies - 12/11/11 - Who is God?

This document is comprised of questions from the first week of the "Parenting Discipleship Class". I figured we might go over each subject presented in the book "New Christian's Handbook: Everything Believers Need to Know" which was used in the class. This book is not something RCC completely agrees with, which I will share the "addendum" for each subject, but it is a decent already-put-together reference book speaking on topics regarding Christian beliefs. I am not including specific questions regarding to the text in the book, rather questions we can answer using the Bible.

I think it is important to be ready to answer questions, not just questions we think others will ask, but questions we ourselves have asked and have yet to look for an answer. More importantly, we should have courage, confidence, and faith in God to use us to witness and evangelize to others, especially those that don't recognize their need.

I'm not sure if I have made this clear, but I hope to let you know at each "class", anything I present or say should be examined very closely with the Word of God as the standard and anything I say (OR DO) that doesn't seem to line up with scripture needs to be addressed not just with me, but with each other and more importantly, with the Elders and leaders of the church. I will always pray, and ask for you to pray, that I always am quick to listen and slow to speak.

Who is God?
RCC believes: God is our Father. He provides and protects. His love for us is more amazing than any love we can experience on earth. He is intimately involved with every Christian. We are princes (males) or princesses (females) to the Creator of the Universe. He cares about every single detail in our life and is more involved than anyone else. If you don’t feel that way about God, it is probably because you have moved away from Him. Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are also intimately involved with all Christians. The roles of Jesus and the Holy Spirit will be covered in upcoming weeks.

Memory Verse: Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
