Not that I want to get into anything that has been happening since my last post (because I would have to revisit and read the last one to the reflect and then note on what has happened), I figured I might start posting my studies and possible answers to questions that I have had or been asked regarding Christ, God, and the scriptures.
*A disclaimer that I should probably post each time I post regarding Christ and the Bible:
I have no authority over anyone and I do not attempt to claim authority in scripture. Any remark, comment, or direction I make should be carefully and closely examined with the Word of God. Some thoughts, opinions, and beliefs I have in each post are influenced by prayer and illumination (nothing "magical" here) and some are influenced by other readings and teachings based on the Word of God.
Question: What does the Bible say or what are some passages that talks about when the end times are going to happen?
My thoughts and "studies":
From what little I have looked up in the Bible, in Matthew 24, Jesus talks a lot about his second coming as well as stating that “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows." (Matthew 24:36 NLT)
Also Jesus tells us: "He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know." (Acts 1:7 NLT)
The only issues I personally have is "debating" with someone who may not have a good understanding of, or willingly admitting, who God is (creator of all things and author of things to come) and, characteristically speaking, how/what God is (perfect, unfailing, omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, as well as perfectly good and righteous, just and sovereign, among others I haven't mentioned).
I think it is only natural to want to defend the truth, but it is definitely difficult, at least I find it to be, to have confidence in what to say and when to say it. Even more important, I find it hard to discern if God is using me to spread the truth or am I using God, in the heat of the moment, to promote my so-called authority over someone who is just argumentative.
When talking to anyone, especially if they are our own family who may have opposing views for no obvious reason, we have to trust in the Holy Spirit to give us strength to hold our tongue and to give us the right words to say. The only way we can help out or allow the Holy Spirit to do His work is if we are actively in the Word every day, praying daily, listening and watching for answers, and serving others as if we were serving Christ.
